EARTH / THE VINEYARDS
You may have already read about the earth, the soil or terroir, the importance that it has in agriculture and, therefore, in the growing of our vines, the influence that it has and how it detemines the fruit that we collect in the same area, without any changes but itself, the earth
In viticulture, the earth deserves a long chapter, as we have created a science out of it that explains the special features that our grapes will have depending on the soil in which they have been grown
What would it be like to always collect an identical tempranillo, without any different nuance to discover and exploit, without any change vintage after vintage, that makes every wine special and unique, unrepeatable? Has someone ever tried a viura hardly rooted in the stony hills of San Adrián? It certainly does not have the same flavour as the viura that grows in the sandy soil that we have just a few kilometers on its right. The difference that the soil makes on the crops has marked our history, our towns, their establishment and their wealth.

After more than 130 years dedicated to wine culture, Manzanos Wines owns 250 hectares in D. O. Ca. Rioja and controls 700 hectares more, 50 hectares owned in D. O. Navarra and controls 525 hectares more. The company sums up a total of 1.525.
One of the main assets of Manzanos Wines is the wide extension of its own vineyards. Each area and each valley of Rioja have unique features. These features widely depend on the relation between the climate, the soil and the vineyard. Do not forget about the importance of the production and elaboration techniques that are determined by our technical team. Both factors together determine the singularity of each wine.

Our vineyards are distributed throughout different municipalities, which allows for the exploitation of the different soils as well as the differences of each variety of grape. This is why the harvest lasts a long period of time, due to the fact that we wait for each parcel to have the optimal ripening. This fact it makes possible to harvest different parcels at different times.
This diversity also makes it possible for Manzanos Wines’ wineries to create wines that show the potential and the features of each area, with a common identity that is easy to recognize.
